Arthur Page Presented with the Franciscan Children’s Game Changer Award

Arthur B. Page
was presented with the “Franciscan Children’s Game Changer Award” during the Boston Pickleball Challenge on June 13, 2024.

The Boston Pickleball Challenge was inspired by the Boston Wiffle Ball Challenge, which previously supported both Franciscan Children's and the Travis Roy Foundation (TRF). The friendly sports competition and fundraiser honors all that Travis Roy did and his continued inspiration for the kids, students, and families at Franciscan Children's.

Franciscan Children’s honored Art, saying.

“Art, you are a champion of not only the work of the Travis Roy Foundation, but you make a huge impactful difference in the lives of countless kids, families, and caregivers, especially our kids at Franciscan Children’s. In recognition of all your tireless dedication and work we want to award you with the “Franciscan Children’s Game Changer Award” – thank you for all you have done and continue to do to ensure that every kid can.”

Art worked with Travis in creating the Travis Roy Foundation which Travis envisioned as a way to give back to others after the generosity so many showed for him after his paralysis. Over a twenty-five-year period, the Foundation raised over $25 million for grants to thousands of individuals living with spinal cord paralysis and for research. After Travis’ untimely death in 2020, Art has served as chair of the TRF’s Board, winding down the Foundation in accordance with Travis’ wishes.

Travis and everyone associated with his Foundation were inspired by the mission and work of Franciscan Children's in addressing chronic pediatric health issues. Now affiliated with Boston Children’s, it is the only pediatric post-acute provider in New England, tackling challenges that others cannot or won’t. Thus, twenty years ago, the Boston Wiffle Ball Challenge was born to benefit both the TRF and Franciscan Children's. The Pickleball Challenge continues that tradition. “So every kid can!”
